Thorostats par times are now loosely based at the 10K claiming level. This par is
assigned a value of 100. We then extrapolate the par times up and down the
classes using the class level charts. We add 1/5 of a second for each class level
higher than 10K and subtract 1/5 of a second for each level below 10K. Track to
track adjustments are based on the average purse value of open MSW races run at
each track. This is the basic method presented by Dr. William Quirin in his early
writing on this matter.
To navigate the site, after you log in you're taken to the race selection page. The
menu on the left side of this page has the link to the par times and class charts.
Click on the link "Class and Pars". The track class clm report is the class level
chart for claiming classes at all tracks. The track class report is the class level
chart for allowance classes at all tracks.
Use these charts to adjust the 10K par time for each class level, higher or lower.
For example:
Track Par: final time 1:37.03 - The track par time is equal to 100
Class Par: 109 - The class par is 9/5ths of a second faster
(above par) than the track par time.
The expected final par time for this race is 1:35.23 Calculate each race par time
in this manner. 1:37.03-((109 -100 )* -.2) = 1:35.23
The Track Par report contains the 10K par times for every track in North America.
Use these charts to determine a par time for each class level for the track you
select. We are improving the GUI so we will be able to select which races are used
to make a par time. I'll then be able to slot the par time on the class level chart
according to the realtionship to the 10K par. We hope to present this feature to our
par time users so they can make par times from the races and classes they need
the most.
