Part 1- How to read reports
|
|
The race selection report contains information in three separate tables.
Conditions, Results and Factor rankings
Class and pace ratings
Connections ratings
Let's look at the first table of our report, the conditions table (shown above) holds
the track, date, race number information for each race and the specific conditions
of the race. The conditions table also adds the track par, Thorostats raw par times
for the track . This par time is equal to a rating of 100. The class level par rating
for the race specific conditions is then listed.
When the class par is less than 100 the expected par time for that field is slower
than the track par listed. When the class par is greater that 100 the expected par
time for that field is faster than the track par. Each class par level point is equal to
1/5th of a second.
For example:
Track Par: final time 1:37.03 -The track par time is equal to 100
Class Par: 109 -The class par is 9/5ths of a second faster
(above par) than the track par time.
The expected final par time for this race is 1:35.23 Calculate each race par time
in this manner. 1:37.03-((109 -100 )* -.2) = 1:35.23
The second table holds the race results and pay off information for each race.
When using single race report you can toggle the results ON after you study the
ratings. When using the "print all races at once" option the results are included by
default.
The next table area includes the navigation links as described below.
This link will open a page that is suitable for a printed copy of the currently
selected race. The print function for your web browser default printer will be used
to print the page. When printing all races at once for a full card, a page break is
included after each race.
To make sure that a race will print on a single page, use the print preview feature
to adjust the font and scale that will allow the information to be displayed on a
single page, then print.
Displays on screen help for using Thorostats reports. This document describes
each rating and heading used in the selection reports. A handy, quick reference
when viewing and learning about the selection reports.
This link will open a new window and you will be directed to a site that list
scratches and changes for each days races. Changes are usually not available until
after 11 AM of current days races. Scratches are often available at each tracks

race you are handicapping are set when you click this button. We left it up to the
members to select date range and class settings. The default settings return races
at the same surface, sex age and distance for the past six months. The default
settings only include results from dry track races as well. Any of these setting can
be changed, please see the Program Performance section for more information on
using the program performance data.
This link will direct you to a site where live odds and race results are displayed.
This link opens in the same window as the report. Use your browser back button to

This link is Thoroughbred Sports Network free results charts where you may find
results of past and current races. This website requires that you are either a
member or provide them with a valid e-mail address to access their reports. This
link opens in the same window as the report you are viewing. Use your browser
back button to return to the race report.
For those who wish to have a simple and quick printout of today's card, may wish
to access this report. We list the categories of class, pace, connections and power
along with the top 4 rated horses in each of those categories, all on a 1-2 page
report. Included in all subscription levels.
The final area of section one ranks the following factors of Class, Pace, and
Connections into the top 4 of each category. The power number is a ranking of all
handicapping factors combined. If a horse has qualified as a Key Selection it will
be listed in the Key Races category. Each of the top 4 factors we use are involved
in the making of the results generated in the past performance data tool.
